Computer Science Education Week

Computer science 2012 week starts today. The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of computer science for careers in the 21st century and the need for the expansion of the computer science education in the United States. Show your support by taking the pledge.

This was the first such week held December 5-11, 2010, in time to coincide with the anniversary (on the 9th December) the birth of the computer science pioneer Grace Hopper. Now an annual event held on a Sunday will always containing that date.

While the scope is limited to USA CSEd Sunday issue of there being too few qualified students in computer science to meet the demands of trade and industry is much wider. Same benefits include computer science, as opposed to computer literacy or ICT, in K-12 (kindergarten through 12th grade curriculum, really generalisable.

In computing, core Coalition responsible for CSEd week, want to improve computer science education to the core of academic studies in education K-12, the young people gave the College and career readiness knowledge and skills necessary in a society focused technology. It gives facts and figures to make the case.

2010 Report runs on empty of ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) and CSTA (computer science teachers Association) gave details of the extent to which countries have adopted AS a standard computer science education nationally recognized.
